  क्या आप जानते है भारत का खूबसूरत पर्यटन स्थल कश्मीर सिर्फ अपनी खूबसूरती के लिए ही नहीं बल्कि कुछ बेहद खास मन्दिरों के लिए भी जाना जाता है, जिनमे से एक है मार्तंड सूर्य मंदिर। 7वीं से 8वीं शताब्दी में बना यह मंदिर भगवान सूर्य देव को समर्पित एक हिंदु मंदिर है। ‘मार्तंड’ यह नाम सूर्य देव का ही नाम है।

  मार्तंड सूर्य मंदिर विश्व के सुंदर मंदिरों की श्रेणी में भी अपना स्थान बनाए हुए है। बर्फ से ढके हुए पहाड़ों में स्थित यह मंदिर इस स्थान का करिश्मा ही कहा जाएगा। इस मंदिर से कश्मीर घाटी का मनोरम दृश्य आसानी से दिखाई देता है। जम्मू और कश्मीर राज्य के अनंतनाग नगर में स्थित एक प्रसिद्ध मंदिर है। मंदिर की उत्तरी दिशा से ख़ूबसूरत पर्वतों का नज़ारा भी देखा जा सकता हैं। आप मंदिर घूमते हुए एक सरोवर को भी देख सकते हैं, जिसमे आज भी रंग बिरंगी मछलियां तैरती हुई नजर आती हैं।

  वर्तमान में मार्तंड सूर्य मंदिर खंडहर में तब्दील हो गया है।

मार्तंड सूर्य मंदिर का इतिहास / History of Martand Sun Temple

  चारों ओर हिमाच्छादित पहाड़ों से घिरे इस मंदिर के निर्माण में वर्गाकार चूना-पत्थरों का इस्तेमाल किया गया था। मार्तंड सूर्य मंदिर का निर्माण कर्कोटक वंश से संबंधित राजा ललितादित्य मुक्तापीड द्वारा जम्मू कश्मीर के छोटे से शहर अनंतनाग के पास एक पठार के ऊपर करवाया था। इसकी गणना ललितादित्य के प्रमुख कार्यों में की जाती है।

मार्तंड सूर्य मंदिर की वास्तुकला 

  मार्तंड सूर्य मंदिर दक्षिण कश्मीर भाग में स्थित छोटे से शहर अनंतनाग से 60 किमी की दूरी पर स्थित एक पठार के ऊपर स्थित है। इसमें 84 स्तंभ हैं जो नियमित अंतराल पर रखे गए हैं। मार्तण्ड सूर्य मंदिर का आंगन 220 फुट x 142 फुट है। यह मंदिर 60 फुट लम्बा और 38 फुट चौड़ा था। इसके चतुर्दिक लगभग 80 प्रकोष्ठों के अवशेष वर्तमान में हैं। इस मंदिर के पूर्वी किनारे पर मुख्य प्रवेश द्वार का मंडप है। द्वारमंडप तथा मंदिर के स्तम्भों की वास्तु-शैली रोम की डोरिक शैली से कुछ अंशों में मिलती-जुलती है।

  मार्तंड सूर्य मंदिर अपनी खूबसूरत वास्तुकला के चलते पूरे देश में प्रसिद्ध है, यह मंदिर अपनी हिंदू राजाओं की स्थापत्य कला का बेहतरीन नमूना है। इस मंदिर को बनाने के लिए चूने के पत्थर की चौकोर ईंटों का उपयोग किया गया है जो उस समय के कलाकारों की कुशलता को दर्शाता है।

विदेशी आक्रमण

 करीब छह सौ वर्ष पूर्व 15 वीं शताब्दी में मुस्लिम आक्रांता सिकंदर बुतशिकन ने आक्रमण कर मंदिर को लगभग पूरी तरह से नष्ट कर दिया।

मार्तण्ड सूर्य मंदिर / Martand Sun Temple

  Do you know that the beautiful tourist destination of India, Kashmir is known not only for its beauty but also for some very special temples, one of which is Martand Sun Temple.  Built in the 7th to 8th century, this temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Surya Dev.  'Martand' is the name of the sun god.

   Martand Sun Temple also holds its place in the category of beautiful temples of the world.  This temple situated in the snow-covered mountains will be called the charisma of this place.  The panoramic view of the Kashmir valley is easily visible from this temple.  There is a famous temple located in Anantnag Nagar in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.  A view of beautiful mountains can also be seen from the northern direction of the temple.  You can also see a lake, walking in the temple, in which colorful fish are still seen swimming.

   Presently Martand Sun Temple has been converted into ruins.

इतिहास / History of Martand Sun Temple

    Square limestone was used in the construction of this temple surrounded by snow-capped mountains.  Martand Sun Temple was built by King Lalitaditya Muktapeed belonging to the Karkotak dynasty atop a plateau near the small town of Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir.  It is counted among the major works of Lalitaditya.

Architecture of Martand Sun Temple

   Martand Sun Temple is situated atop a plateau situated 60 km from the small town of Anantnag located in the south Kashmir part.  It has 84 columns which are placed at regular intervals.  The courtyard of the Martand Sun Temple is 220 feet x 142 feet.  The temple was 60 feet long and 38 feet wide.  There are presently the remains of about 80 cells around it.  On the eastern side of this temple is the mandapa of the main entrance.  The architectural style of the Dvamandap and the pillars of the temple is somewhat similar to the Doric style of Rome.

    Martand Sun Temple is famous all over the country due to its beautiful architecture, this temple is the finest specimen of the architecture of its Hindu kings.  Square lime stone bricks have been used to build this temple which shows the skill of the artists of that time.

Forien Invasion

   Nearly six hundred years ago in the 15th century, the Muslim invader Alexander Butashikan attacked and almost completely destroyed the temple.
